How it works:

The award-winning Indiana Scheduled Prescription Electronic Collecting and Tracking (INSPECT) program monitors every controlled substance dispensed on an outpatient basis by all licensed pharmacies in Indiana. The program is the first of its kind to integrate its data into a health information exchange, share data with other states, and engage in both user-led and email-based unsolicited reporting.


INSPECT aims to address the problem of prescription drug abuse in Indiana. By integrating data into a health information exchange, the program also eliminates redundancy of accessing electronic medical records in the internal healthcare setting and then separately accessing data via the web.
